Diverse teams produce financial returns that are a third higher than average (McKinsey, 2017).
But young people from low income backgrounds, who could be the lifeblood of these diverse teams, are three times less likely to be in a job or course after leaving school (Impetus, 2019).
They are also twice as likely to have communication difficulties. This presents a major barrier to working in an organisation, from speaking confidently in a job interview to communicating effectively with clients.
We Speak forges meaningful connections between new talent and companies by training Mentors to support the students.
The benefits for companies include:
- High quality volunteering opportunity
- Communication, facilitation and leadership skills development for your staff
- Playing an active role in improving the confidence and employability of young people
- Building a pipeline of talented students with good communication skills from diverse backgrounds
